Maine Considering Raising ATV Weight Limit According To New Bill
Once upon a time, many trail systems had 1,000 pound limits for ATVs. Then UTVs hit the scene and took the trails by storm, and suddenly the half-ton weight limit was troublesome. Trails suddenly had 2,000 pound weight limits to accommodate the side-by-sides, and that limit has stood strong for some years now. But with the weight of new machines continually increasing, the one-ton weight limit is in jeopardy, and Maine is now debating increasing the weight limit for ATVs on its trails.
Honda and 6666 Ranch Join Together For Strategic Partnership
Honda Powersports and 6666 Ranch (pronounced "four sixes ranch") have linked up for a three-year partnership. For those unfamiliar with the latter, it's a 260,000-acre ranch in Texas that oversees thousands of cattle with a special eye towards conservation and good land stewardship. The partnership makes Honda "The Official Powersports Partner of 6666 Ranch."
Polaris' Brock Heger Takes KOH UTV Overall Win For Third Straight Year
It was a fantastic outing at the 2026 King of the Hammers (KOH) race for Polaris and Brock Heger. Fresh off a big win at the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, Heger piloted his RZR Pro R to the top of the podium in the 7th annual Desert Challenge and the UTV Open class during the Limited Race. This is Heger's third consecutive Desert Challenge victory, and Polaris had others helping the brand behind Heger as well.
Honda Talon 1000R and 1000R-4 Get 30" Tires For 2026
The Honda Talon is a great sport-rec rig, and though it isn't a household name like the Polaris RZR or Can-Am Maverick, it's still a well-rounded machine in any trim and spec. Instead of rocking the boat, Honda has barely tinkered with it for the 2026 model year, choosing to equip the 1000R FOX Live Valve and 1000R-4 FOX Live Valve with 30" tires and leave the rest untouched.
VOOM Introduces Pay-Per-Mile ATV and UTV Insurance for Colorado
Pay-per-mile motorcycle insurance company VOOM is expanding to Colorado, and for the first time, adding coverage for off-road vehicles in the state. Though ATV and UTV coverage will only be in Colorado at first, VOOM says it soon expand to cover off-road vehicles in other states.
Polaris Recalls Sportsman 450 and 570 ATVs
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Polaris has recalled 80,000 Sportsman 450 and 750 models built between 2021 and 2023, plus an additional 13,900 units sold in Canada.

Polaris Brings Back Popular Submodels
By popular demand, Polaris has announced the return of some trim levels and submodels previously dropped from the Ranger and Sportsman lines.
"We are constantly learning from the unique ways customers use our products," said Steve Menneto, President of Polaris Off Road. "From mudding to property maintenance, these vehicles are purpose-built with enhanced features that enable our customers to make the most of their day, and we're excited to bring them back for 2023."
