2012 John Deere Gator™ XUV 4x4 550

NEVER WILL BUY A DEERE AGAIN. NEVER SHIFTED CORRECTLY AND PEOPLE AT TRI GREEN IN COOKEVILLE, TN CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED IT. ON ONE RETURN, THE DRIVER COULD NOT EVEN GET IT OFF THE BED HE HAULED IT WITH!! IT SAT IN THE YARD.

DEERE HEADQUARTERS AND THEIR COMPLICIT RETAILTERS ARE ... KNOWING SELLING UNSAFE AND UNDRIVABLE VEHICLES.

BOUGHT IN COOKEVILLE, TN TRI--GREEN. IN SHOP FOR SHIFTER FREEZING ....7 TIMES. CLUTCH RTEPLACED...WAS GOOD FOR A WEEK..ANOTHER DEALER PUT SECOND CLUTCH IN..SAME EFFECT.

HAS 70 HOURS ON IT. USDED FOR RIDING ONLY, NOT CHORES. HAS BEEN GARAGED ENTIRE TIME. TOOK IT TO CO-OP IN LAFAYETTE, ... TN FOR FINAL REPAIR SO I CAN SELL IT...AS A 65 YO DISABLED WOMAN, I HAVE LITTLE KNOW-HOW OF THESE REPAIR MATTERS. SO I TRUST THE MEHANIC.

WAS INFORMED THE REAR-END MAY HAVE A MISSING "TOOTH"...REPAIR BILL OUT OF MY REACH. IF DEERE REP DOES NOT HELP WITH COST, WILL HAVE TO SCRAP MY $11,00.00 MACHINE!

My 550 has been a huge let down. It's only got 22 hours on it and it's been in the shop 4 times for a total of 8.5 weeks. John Deere isn't standing behind it at all . Lemon

this unit should not even be considered , we have ours in the shop 5 times due to the shifter issues , they contiune to tell us it is fixed , then the shifter freezes up and you can not change gears , if you bought one take it back and demand a refund due to the lemon laws

I've had my Gator XUV550 2-seater for almost a year now and have 135 hours it. It has surprised me numerous times when I test it. Hills- no problem. Thick mud up to the floor-boards...no problem. I even pulled a 30 foot power pole across my back yard with it. (power company just left it for me to ... deal with) Easy to get in and out of and will go just about anywhere I want to go. I don't miss my 4-wheeler at all. The ride quality is great and the seating position, imo, is the most comfortable of any utv available.

bought ours last fall. had problem shifting. complained to dealer. said it must be acceleration and to bring it in. we left the state for 5 months. ran it this summer. got very annoyed with the shifting. pulled out manual for acceleration location to adjusting. couldn't find. so stopped at dealer ... . they came out and said it a clutch problem. it also moves when parked. so their waiting on a rep from jd to see if they'll cover repairs. I googled and others are having the same problem. RECALL!

I only bought mine a week ago, got the 4 seater and have had 4 good size people in it and it had plenty of power. Hope we get a long life out of it.

I bought my Gator XUV 550 S4 in November 2012. I'm a quadriplegic C6-C7. I have use of my arms but have little hand function. Being able to explore the beach in my Gator makes my life much more enjoyable. The 550 S4 navagates through deep sand with no problem. The 4 wheel drive with locking diferencial ... leaves me with no worries about getting home. In most cases I never have to use anything other than the 2 wheel drive but having the other selection sure makes me feel safe. The 16 HP engine boggs down a bit in deep sand but powers its way through. 28 miles per hour is prefect for the Island streets where the maxium speed is 30. Corpus Christi allows golf type vehicals with no need for a license. My wife and I tool around the Island just sight seeing sometimes. I loan it out to the neighbors sometimes they think it's great also. It uses about 6 dollars worth of gas every 8 hours. My email is van8125@gmail.com if you would like to ask any questions.

We recently purchased a John Deere Gator 550 xuv 4x4 in camo. We love it. Have taken it in a few challinging places and made it with no problems. My wife loves the fact that she can know enjoy riding sitting in a seat instead of doubled up on a 4 wheeler. Seems to have plenty of power for the type ... of riding we do.
