Moose Offroad Maverick X3 - The Bolt-On Build You Can Do!

Can-Am’s awesome Maverick X3 line is a popular option for many when it comes to ultimate performance sport Side-by-Sides (SxS). Whether you’re hammering the trails, screaming through the desert, or catching air off the crest of a sand dune, if you are behind the wheel of an X3, you’re going to be doing so with a great big smile on your face. The only issue is that your Maverick likely looks a lot like all the other Maverick X3s out there. Nobody likes purely stock machines these days, and personalizing your X3 is easy with all of the options out on the market. If you’re looking for one-stop shopping with competitive prices, try Moose Offroad. To showcase what it can do, Moose did its own bolt-on build with an X3 and as you will likely agree, it came out killer.
Safety And Recovery
No matter what type of riding you do, you need to be safe and you need to get back home at the end of the ride. Moose Offroad had that premise in mind with a bunch of the products it selected for the X3 build, and all of these can easily be applied to your SxS. A winch is always a good idea for any and every machine. It is a great recovery tool and it comes in handy for other tasks as well. Moose added its Aggro 4,500lb winch kit to the X3. It is a great winch at a killer price. Moose also added its Universal Jack kit with roll cage mounts. A jack comes in handy for changing flat tires, but it also works great when you need to elevate a tire to get something under it when you’re stuck.
On the “keeping you safe” front, Moose Offroad added some products that are not only a good idea, but also something you should have on every machine. One is a fire extinguisher mount. If you’re not carrying a fire extinguisher, you are playing with fire - literally. This mount lets you add one to the roll cage. Big sticks have a way of messing up a SxS in ways you might not ever think of. The worst as far as being bad for you is when one comes smashing through the composite floor of a SxS. That’s why Moose added its Footwell Protector to their X3. It’s made from aluminum and acts like a skid plate for your feet. While they were at it, they added a 4-Point Safety Harness kit to the build. It is a good idea for keeping your butt planted in the seat, especially at the speeds you can achieve with the X3. Moose also added Nerf Bars to the exterior to keep things from impacting the tires, which could cause you to flip. An added bonus is that they look great, too.
Mirrors are important for safety and peace of mind. Moose added its Rear View Mirror with light kit to give you a look at what’s behind you, as well as some extra light for maps and more. If you’re mounting one on your own X3, you’ll need the adapter to make it fit right. Side mirrors are always a good idea, too, especially if you ride in higher traffic areas. Moose Offroad added its Hexagon Side Mirror kit that comes with a pair of billet aluminum mirrors that mount to the cage. The mirrors are convex shaped so you get a good view from the driver’s seat.
Comfort Levels
If you ride in dust a lot, Moose Offroad suggests adding a two-person Helmet Air Pumper to keep fresh air flowing into your helmets. Moose even make some nice helmets to go along with this system, so you can run a complete Moose setup. Of course, you need to see, so a Dome light was added to the Moose X3. Moose also added its Grab Handles to give you a place to hold onto for those special moments when the turbo kicks in and the gravity goes to work. Rounding out the comfort level is the Lower Door Panel that helps keep the mud and dust from rolling in. The nice thing about the Moose panel is that it’s made from aluminum, giving you a durable door section that won’t warp like plastic.
Power To Ground
If there is one thing the Can-Am Maverick X3 SxS vehicles are known for, it is horsepower. Moose wanted its project X3 to be tough and get all the horsepower its could muster to the wheels, and to that end, the Moose Offroad stainless steel Radius Arm kit and the Radius Arm Plate were added. Not only does this kit add some serious style to the X3, but also the parts are just as serious about being durable. You will have a hard time destroying one of these radius arms on the trail.
Of course Moose added some sweet wheels and tires. After all, swapping out the wheels and tires is the top thing people do to personalize their machines. The black 24X Wheels are extremely tough and they look killer. They are X-rayed at the factory for any defects and are as durable as they are stylish. Completing the wheel package is a lug nuts kit from Moose. To help widen the stance a bit, the Moose Offroad team installed its two-inch Wheel Spacer kit. So with sweet wheels, lug nuts and a spacer kit, there was a need for a performance tire to wrap around the wheels. For that, Moose went with the 8-ply radial Draco tires in a 32-inch size. This gives the X3 an aggressive tread pattern that works across a wide range of terrain types. These tires are good for anything from rocks to woods and wide open spaces. And being 8-ply, the Draco is tough, too, resisting punctures and pinch flats.
Moose also knows that try as you might, there may come a time when you need to change a belt trailside. It is just a fact of life for any CVT-driven SxS. A Drive Belt Storage case was added to the X3 build just in case disaster strikes on the trail. It is a sturdy case that protects your spare belt and keeps it handy by mounting on your roll cage.
Lights
Of course, no build would be complete without some lighting upgrades, and Moose Offroad has plenty to offer when it set about building the project X3. It starts with an eight-position Gang Switch to control all the lights and other electronics. For safety and visibility, along with a touch of style, Moose added its Quick Disconnect Whip Lights, along with the mounts and power adapter. These light-up whips let others know where you are and look amazing at the same time. Adding more visibility is the 24-inch Chase Light bar. This rear mounted LED light bar is the same thing the desert pros use to track vehicles at night.
As an added custom flair, Moose also added a set of its 8 Pod Rock Lights. These LED lights can be customized through an app on your phone to give you some sweet color changes. The housings are sturdy aluminum, too. Rock lights look great but serve a purpose, helping you see the terrain under your tires during night rides. Moose also added its Signature LED light trim lights, and blacked out LED Tail Lights and LED Blacked Out Headlights, giving the X3 a custom look that is still highly functional. These lights give you more light output over stock, while also adding some style to your ride.
Moose Offroad also wanted to give its project Maverick X3 additional illumination power for the trail. In keeping with the theme, they added a 40-inch black LED Light Bar that puts out 34,000 lumens of light. The team then added a 12-inch Amber LED Light Bar for better vision in foggy conditions. Moose also installed a set of three-inch square Green LED Ditch Lights. Green LEDs are great for keeping your night vision intact, while still giving you ample light.
Style With Purpose
It is one thing to make your ride look better. It is another to add some flair with products that serve a purpose, whether for performance or convenience. Moose has products that fit the bill and, of course, they found their way onto the Moose Offroad X3 Build. The team added some sweet billet aluminum parts including a Shifter Kit and a set of Billet Door Handles. Not only do these parts look far better than the stock plastic pieces, but they also offer better engagement and durability. The same can be said for the Moose Front Grille kit, which looks way better than stock and adds additional airflow for better performance.
Moose knows that people like to have access to their phones, so a Moose Phone Holder was added. This mounts your phone to the roll cage, keeping it in your line of sight, so you can see who is trying to reach you without having to take your eyes off the trail. Moose also knows that many folks like to hear music while they ride, so it added a 32-inch Soundbar. It has eight speakers and looks great and is built to handle the rigors of the trail.
Moose OffRoad capped the build with a couple of storage helpers. They first added its Door Bags, which mount to the exposed frame of the door and give you a zippered, fabric storage area for clothes, tools and more. Finally, Moose added its stylish Bed Enclosure which is made from powder-coated steel and gives you a more secure way to carry things in the cargo bed area of your X3.
Whether you have a Can-Am Maverick X3 of your own, or some other SxS branded machine, Moose Offroad has a wide selection of quality parts that will help you get the most from your ride, all at prices you won’t be shocked by.
