It was unlikely that the pandemic-induced sales surge would continue once the dust settled, and as much as we hate to see it happen, it felt fairly inevitable: Despite record numbers, manufacturers are seeing sale volumes decline, and Arctic Cat is the latest to succumb to this reality of the powersports industry. In a note to its dealers dated December 18, 2024, Arctic Cat announced it will cease production indefinitely as of the second half of 2025.

We have included the full message above, but the gist of it is this: Arctic Cat is stating that less-than-favorable business conditions in the powersports industry are impacting the brand's overall strategy. Causes for this change is "continued softness in consumer end-market demand." Put simply: Arctic Cat's sales have dropped to the point that the company has to explore other options for how it makes money.

The immediate outcome of this is that Arctic Cat is ceasing production once the first half of 2025 is over, shutting down the lines at its Thief River Falls facility in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Dealers and service centers will remain open, but production of new machines will be suspended indefinitely. Pour one out for Arctic Cat.

In all truth, it has felt like Arctic Cat's ATV division has been hanging on for dear life for quite a while now. Even though it just injected some energy and excitement into the line, competitive offerings have run away with the sales lead.
