Perfect for interior Alaska
By Doug (I am an Owner) on Aug 08, 2020I purchased mine used about a year ago, it had been beat up pretty hard. Surprisingly I haven't put as much in to it as I thought I would have to. I really like the the smaller frame with a 455 displacement. Very reliable machine that has never had maintenance except an occasional oil change before ... I got it. Yes, it has been a little modified now. Climbs hills, down hills and many river crossings without a hiccup. The Polaris is the most common and best machine in my opinion for Alaska riding and hunting and play. I mounted a passenger backrest to haul more gear in dry storage and it hauls 4' x 5' meat cart just fine with machine loaded as well

2010 Sportsman 400 H.O.
By 1320970313 () on Nov 01, 2016In my opinion (coming from a 14 year old) this is a beautiful machine. It crawls really nice considering it has no low gear I'd consider it a plus. Being on a smaller chassis makes it really maneuverable and nimble which is always great when your in the trail. By no means is the underpowered either. ... There's still plenty enough to spin the tires and even drift. You can almost forget power steering is missing too because of the light weight it's still really easy to steer. This is a great machine for younger or smaller riders in the end. Definitely worth the money

Great machine---but tough to service
By medixrun (I am an Owner) on May 16, 2014I bought this ATV new. Overall, it has been a great ATV, but tough to service. It seems they want you to take it to a dealer for basic things i.e. changing oil, gas filter, battery, etc. The manual is woefully lacking in guidance. You have to a contortionist to replace the battery-----forget about ... giving it a jump start. The gas filter is completely hidden and difficult to access.

The old ladies bike
By mark (I am an Owner) on Oct 19, 2012Meaning i bought this for the old lady.small frame, manuverable would be better if it was fuel injected. Under powered real short wheelbase little sketchy on the steep DH's. Climbs good, no 4 low though. Must keep front of rad clean of debris including spore seeds from bushs overheated once.

2010 sportsman 400 ho
By john (I am an Owner) on Sep 17, 2012great machine i have used it like a car for the past two years and now at a year and 6 months of ownership it now has 2400 miles in it. The only issue is it does overheat i would suggest going with the polaris extended warranty because service gets expensive. the quality of polaris products are far ... superior in my opinion to most other brands have owned suzukis my whole life and their garbage
