  • My clutch went to crap, after 250 miles...$600, so far...
By John (I am an Owner) on Mar 21, 2017

I have a '06 Yamaha, that is still stompin', with a couple of thousand more miles...wish I'd bought another Yamaha.

  • Bad Design
By Tregan (I am an Owner) on Aug 25, 2014

I started out loving my Artic Cat. Fast as I wanted, sporty ride, plenty of power, get up and go.. Then things went to crap. Oil pump gear at 4000 miles had worn on the shaft and wobbled enough that it caught on the centrifugal clutch. Tore the oil pump off and tore the clutch to pieces. The design ...

I fixed this all only to have the connecting rod start to seize up on the engine crankshaft. I victim of the oil pump failure I believe. So I had my dealer do a complete overhaul, new crank, connecting rod, piston, and cylinder...

My next failure was the one way clutch that supposedly causes the engine braking. I was out in the field, left my 4-wheeler in gear while I got off for a moment, and the 4-wheeler left me, going down the field on it's own. The sprag had grabbed and scored. Again I think as a result of the oil pump failure. I took the one way clutch out and can not tell the difference in engine braking.

Also just before the one-way clutch went out, the transmission belt started slipping. Oil was getting into the belt case. I have torn this apart three times and have not been successful in stopping the oil leak. I now have a seal/bearing kit. And this is the last time I am tearing it apart. After this time I will just give up on it...

Unless Artic Cat can prove to me they have changed their oil pump design I will not own another A/C... I am sorry, but the mile put on my pickup are cheaper than these have been.....

  • Awesome Machine
By CatManDo (I am an Owner) on Sep 15, 2011

I am extremely impressed with the power, speed, and performance of this Arctic Cat. I also believe it is the best looking ATV on the market. Too early to tell how reliable it is, but the quality is excellent and so far I am very happy with my purchase. I got the camo color which does not show scratches ...
