Best reliable atv I have owned
By Rodgar Bleth (I am an Owner) on Feb 10, 2022I have had my 06 x2 for 9 yrs and it has been great. Just shy of 5000 miles on it. No belt issues, plenty if power for doing work and play. I did replace fuel pump, was still working just did not want to have it fail 59 miles from home on the trail. I've pulled some huge loads with it, moved 2,500 ... lbs dump trailer around, winch lifted/moved many large trees, and it us still going. Battery location is not great, but I've only needed to cage it twice in nine years. I would say I do 70% work and 30% play with it. Been great, but with it being almost 20 years old, I am upgrading, I hope to a 2015 X2 570. If it is as good as the 06 I hope to have it for 9 yrs or so also.

I love mine
By Cooper69er (I am an Owner) on Aug 14, 2019I've had mine 13 years now., I've seen the reviews about the battery being impossible to get to.. I changed mine out no problem.. I've had mine completely under water and rode it for about 50 miles more and changed the oil the next day with no problems. It's never let me down it rides great and pulls ... good.. after 13 years and about 5000 miles I'm finally do for some wheel bearings that's about it.. I've mistreated mine and it's still going strong..

Does it all for me!
By Alan Wilson (I am an Owner) on Apr 03, 2011Hi bought one of these babies on closeout in late 2006. Other than getting the slide on the rear seat stuck a couple of times its been great. Yeah guess I could little more power but it gets me where I want went I want.
A previous reviewer had battery problems and yes its a real job just to ... reach it but still going on the original battery. I'm not a hardcore offroader so it doesn't get abused. Would I get another? maybe!

Not too bad but has problems
By T. Moody (I am an Owner) on Feb 09, 2010I have had my Polaris X2 for 4 years and it has been pretty reliable. However I don't think I would buy another one. I like the turf mode for steering and the 4x4 works great but it is the little things that are starting to anoy me. After 1 year of owning the fuel pump went out, Polaris said I ... had to buy the whole tank to replace the fuel pump 500.00 dollars, yeah right! Thanks to the power of the internet I found a fuel pump for 30 bucks and did it myself. The batter I too think is in a bad location but it is managable. Find one to replace it is another story. Local NAPA wants 185 for the battery. The frame is rusting I hate rust. I wash and oil it down but does not help. Must be cheap steel, dont know. Over all I have been satisfied and it has not let me down in the woods but I fear that day is coming.

all around machine
By paul (I am an Owner) on Sep 10, 2009I have had my X2 for over two years now. It has been a very versatile machine and wouldn't want to go back to a conventional atv. Hauling gear etc. and then being able to flip up the seat makes it my favorite (I also have a Yamaha Kodiak). Over 1000 miles and no problems. Towed heavy trailers, ... driven with my wife and two kids on it at the same time and it always goes. Very smooth trail ride.

Not a happy camper
By B.J. Olson (I am an Owner) on May 14, 2009Overall I like it most of the time until something goes wrong. I have been stranded high and dry more than once. First off, the battery is located in the worst spot possible. The battery cables came loose once and it took the mechanics 4 hours to figure out that was the issue. 2 years later I need ... a new battery and cannot even get the battery out without bringing it in to the shop. The transmission sounds clunky. I like the turf mode. It is great for the kids to ride along. Overall, I rate the ride a 8 and the maintenance a 1.
