Great machine, great price
By Mike Stokes (I am an Owner) on Jun 18, 2011I had a 1996 Bayou 220 that was given to me when I was 13. I didn't run when I got it but a little work and we had it going great. I rode it for several years.....rode it very hard for several years. In 2010, it was having some carb problems and I decided it was time to just get a new machine. I ... went with the Bayou 250 mainly because of the dirt cheap price tag but also because I knew Kawasaki couldn't have fallen far from the tree when they upgraded to the 229cc motor. I have put this machine through everything imaginable. It has survived everything I have thrown at it. I truly believe this is the toughest atv built by any company. Its small, not fast, and has no frills, but it is absolutely worth every penny on the price tag. If you are looking for an inexpensive two wheel drive machine the Bayou 250 is absolutely worth looking at.

Bayou 250
By Robert Hunter (I am an Owner) on Nov 29, 2010I have the Bayou and its really easy to operate for me and my two girls. I have one who is 9 and the other is 12. They both can operate it and take it anywhere that I can. I have used the 250 to grade my dirt drive way with an attachment. It didn't have the power that was needed to do that. ... I will have to upgrade to another size to be able to pull that off. I truly believe that the bayou 250 is an outstanding piece of equipment. It has never showed any issues and can take some hard abuse, especially from the kids. I will never back away from the Kawasaki models. I have everything from a dirt bike to a cruiser. Kawasaki lives up to their name and machines. If you have children I totally recommend the Bayou 250, but if you want some heavy jobs done upgrade. Good Job Kawasaki.

Don't fix what isn't broken!
By Matt (I am an Enthusiast) on May 10, 2009I have a 2002 Bayou 220, and My friend bought one of these 250's for his teenage daughter, after she test rode my old 220, she needed a Quad that was able to cruise at 30 MPH and be capable of dragging a deer out of the woods.
Pros
1. Cheap price but well built
2. Easy on gas
3. ... Easy to steer even with the atv overloaded
4. Top speed is 40+ MPH
5. Maint. free shaft drive
Cons
1. No cooling fan/oil cooler for low speed work
2. It could use another gear, with lighter riders power isnt the problem RPM's are
3. The seat is a little too firm
