Off-Road Trails: Washington

Geared up and ready, you can find great off-roading in the state of Washington. There are several private commercially operated locations, but for state run OHV we found a few to test your mettle! And if you think you cannot ride your ATV in national forests, you are wrong. The rocky mountain terrain and cool high canopy in the forests make for an unbelievable trip to the far north west.

Off-roading in Washington means you will be spending time in the woods, as well as long, winding trails with shrubbery, rock-strewn hill climbs, and tall canopies lined with a variety of trees native to the state. Mountain top lakes and long strips of trail with breathtaking views await more adventurous travelers.

When considering the places to stay, you can plan on RV campgrounds all over the state and plenty of the major hotel chains litter the roads here. However, to get into the very scenic riding areas you might want to find primitive camping for that real intimate adventure.

Mica Moon Tours

Head up to the Pacific Northwest and Washington State for something truly special. Destination Yamaha has teamed with Mica Moon Tours to take adventures to new heights - literally. Located at Liberty Lake, Washington, near Spokane, Mica Moon combines a UTV trail tour using Yamaha Viking Xi machines and a treetop zipline experience unlike anything else. Evans Creek OHV

Suited for rugged 4X4 machines, this off-highway vehicle area is prime for the SXS family. Located in the Northwest Forest region of Washington State, you will need an OHV sticker for the ride. This area boasts 45 miles of designated trail and these paths will range from difficult and narrow to smooth and wide. If you want to camp on this trail system, there are 23 campsites available.

Moses Lake Sand Dunes

Riding in the sand is fun at the Moses Lake Sand Dunes. There are 3,000 acres of sand dunes to play in and right near this spot is another 3,000 across of mud flats for those who love to ride in the muck. Let's not forget that swimming in the evenings in the lake is a great way to wrap up a day of riding.

Riverside State Park ORV Area

Situated in a Ponderosa Pine forest, this ride destination is prime for those loving the ATV and UTV family lifestyle. Also known as the 7-mile ORV Park, this location has been here since the 1980s and offers 600 acres of riding possibilities. The hard-pack trails wind around the landscape and the facilities offer up some much-needed items like loading and unloading platforms, restroom facility, picnic shelters and a fenced in rider training area for the kids.

Beverly Sand Dunes

These sand dunes offer 300 open acres of riding area with sandy trails and sand bowls. It is open to all ORVs and is a great place to hone your sand skills if you’ve never ridden in the dunes before. It is perfect for those looking to do a warm up of their skillset before heading off to the more challenging Moses Creek Dunes which are a little over an hour away to the Northwest. The trailhead is a gravel parking area with room for big trailers and campers.
