By Rick Sosebee

In the state of Ohio, the rules and regulations of where you can ride your ATV or UTV are foggy at best. Many towns and cities make their own judgements that may differ from what the state itself deems appropriate, which adds to the confusion. All of this means that UTVs are not permitted on many state-operated trails.

However, all is not lost in Ohio. We were able to find some private ride locations in the state that are open to both ATVs and UTVs. Just be sure to take a family member or friend along to enjoy the experience with you.

The trails are a combination of hard pack, loamy soil, rocks, steep hills and some water crossings.

Clear Fork Adventure resort

Clear Fork is a 196-acre private off-road park that charges a $20 usage pass. There is a 13-mile trail loop as well as numerous other ride areas that include rocky hill climbs, mud pits, motocross tracks and more. The park often has special events, too, with concerts, ride events, etc. There is a full-service resort on site with ATV accessories, fuel, food, drinks and cabins. This is strictly an ATV, UTV and dirt bike park. No Jeeps or sand rails allowed. You have to wear a helmet and sign a waiver, too.
