While there aren't many people who live in this northern oasis that is Montana, the few that do live here enjoy it to the absolute fullest. Some will say that the snow gets old, but many of these people also say that they love all of the off-road trails and side-by-side adventures in their next breath.
Much of the land here is privately owned, but there are still some relatively large off-highway vehicle areas that cater to ATV and UTV enthusiasts. Cities are few and far between in the state, so it's best to pack all of your items needed for adventure in your hometown - there is no guarantee that you'll find what you need when you get off the beaten path. So, pack up and head out on your next off-road adventure!

Eureka, Mont.
Koocanusa Sand Dunes and Trail System
The Koocanusa Sand Dunes and Trail System will be one of the most unique and far-away off-road destinations you will ever visit. Located up near the Canadian border, the lake here recedes in the summer months, enough to open up the sand dunes and play pits that are in the open riding area. The dunes are fairly large and include a couple different fields, and the trail system adjacent to the dunes is filled with woods and pristine terrain. Make sure you pack up enough supplies here as it is sparsely populated with none of the big box stores that you would find in the big city. Several RV parks are next to the riding area, giving you access to the dunes and trail system. All in all, this is one of the ultimate adventure spots in the country!
