Off-Road Trails: Kentucky

Providing over 150 miles of trails that are tailored to all experience levels, Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area is an approximately 8,000-acre park that has two different staging areas. Family fun activities are everywhere at Black Mountain, including zip lining to go along with the off-road trails. Open year round, Black Mountain also has detailed trail maps so that you won't get lost in the park. Plus, there are trails catering to all experience levels, extending the fun for absolutely everyone. More lodging option, along with food and other amenities, are located a short distance from the park in the town of Harlan.

Have you ever wanted to experience the thrill of riding your family side-by-side in a cave? Blue Holler Off-Road Park has the opportunity to do just that in their famous sand cave that is large enough for your vehicle to drive right through. With the multiple types of terrain at this park, including wide open trails, water crossings, sandy switchbacks, and rock- and rut-strewn sections, a new adventure greets you at every turn. Bowling Green is the largest city next to the riding area, and this area will have all of your lodging and supply needs.

Open every weekend of the year, Dirt Nasty Off-Road Park is a very scenic and relatively new off-road riding option for everyone looking to ride the scenic foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Dirt Nasty features riding areas for all skill levels, and they are building out the park to include camping spots with hookups and shower facilities (primitive camping already available), so it's a great place for families to explore the off-road lifestyle together. With all trails being marked, riders can enjoy easy navigation through the park. If you like challenging trails and obstacles, Dirt Nasty has several incredible climbs that are there to test your skills. Morehead is a large town located just outside of the park boundaries, providing easy access to all of your camping and lodging amenities.

While the name might conjure up tough turtle drawings like the park's logo suggests, Dirty Turtle Off-Road Park is actually an oasis for off-roaders of all types. Since a change in ownership several years ago, Dirty Turtle has expanded to accommodate everyone with cabins, campgrounds, general store, more trails, new events, and a dirt track that is now famous in the region. The nearby town of Bedford has everything you need for supplies, fuel, and accommodations, too.

Hollerwood is a privately owned and operated 3,000-acre off-road park in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge with over 100 miles of wooded trails that have something for every skill level. The park has a mix of hardpack, rocks, mud and some water crossings. It is a mixed-use OHV park with ATVs, UTVs, dirt bikes and Jeeps/trucks. You can camp onsite and UTV rentals are available. The park issues monthly passes, so for locals, or those not too far away, it represents a good value for a fun place to ride. The park itself is fairly new, so amenities and events are being added all the time.
