2018 Textron Off Road Alterra VLX 700 and VLX 700 EPS Unveiled
While the Alterra VLX 700 was available under the Arctic Cat banner in 2017, the EPS model is new for 2018. Here is what Textron Off Road has to say about new Alterra VLX 700 and VLX 700 EPS:
The 2018 Alterra VLX and VLX 700 EPS from Textron Off Road are proof that ATV riders can get the big features they want at a price that’s small in comparison.
It starts with a rugged, dependable chassis and top-notch ride quality via 10 inches of front/rear travel (with adjustable front shocks) and 11 inches of ground clearance. The supportive front and rear racks provide 100/200 lbs. of load carrying capacity to complement the 1,050-lb. towing capacity. Hauling all your favorite gear has never been so easy or secure.
Both models are powered by the dependable, liquid-cooled 695cc engine designed and built by Textron Motors. That power runs through the Duramatic Automatic transmission with Park, High, Low, Neutral and Reverse. Plus there’s mechanical 4WD for maximum traction when it’s needed. Its class leading power and fuel economy are aided by its closed-loop EFI system.
Both models feature 25-in. Carlisle Trail Pro tires wrapped around rugged steel wheels; dual halogen headlights; and standard 2-in. receiver hitch. Both models are available in either Black or Camo.
The Alterra VLX 700 EPS adds the riding ease of Electronic Power Steering. This system begins at key on and offers varying levels of assist based on steering input force, tire resistance and vehicle speed, all controlled by an ECU. The result is light steering input effort, especially when in 4WD, but with enough feedback that the rider senses the tire contact with the terrain.
