5 Things We Love About The Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 Mud Edition

The reason so many of us like riding and exploring off-road is that modern ATVs and UTVs are so freaking good. The 2025 Sportsman XP 1000 Mud Edition is no different. Here are five things we like about this brute of an ATV.
1. Tires
Polaris outfitted the Mud Edition with massive 30-inch Pro Armor MUD XT 2.0 tires. These rugged tires feature 10-ply construction and aggressive, mud-eating lugs to help pull you through the slop without being so aggressive that you can’t comfortably ride on normal trails.

2. Winch
What good is a mud-focussed ATV without a winch? Sometimes we put ourselves in positions that outweigh our skill. A winch can help get you out of a jam and the Sportsman XP 1000 Mud Edition is ready to help with a 3500-pound Polaris HD winch with synthetic rope.
3. Electronic Power Steering
This is a big, heavy ATV with aggressive tires. Electronic power steering helps make maneuvering through the mud and technical terrain a whole lot easier without the sore shoulders and hands you’d otherwise have to deal with.
4. Rack-Mounted Radiator
While we personally don’t want to submerge our ATVs deep in muddy water, the fact that Polaris moved the radiator up to the highest point of this machine gives you a little peace of mind should you find yourself in a deeper mud hole than you were expecting. This makes sure your engine can still breath…even if you are holding your own breath at the time.
5. Ground Clearance
Thanks to its large tires and suspension design, the Sportsman 1000 XP Mud Edition boasts an impressive 13.5 inches of ground clearance. That’s plenty of room to get up and over rocks and other trail debris without worrying roughing up the underside of your ATV.
